Hallmark Cards is a hand-bent playback of Hallmark greeting cards with sound. The personalized cards are converted into sentimental electronic instruments equipped with modified punch lines. Once open, the copyright audio material is exposed to circuit-bending techniques and physical compression. The resulting audio functions as a cover song.

Hallmark Cards Volume 2: Happy Birthday To You focuses specifically on the song “Happy Birthday To You”. Arranged in only four lines, it is the most recognized song in the English language and is currently valued at an estimated $5 million. It’s Copyright status is currently under investigation by the U.S. Supreme Court, and is set to expire in 2030, 95 years after the publication of the original authors.
